The Translational Research Program (TRP) marked a major milestone this fall, celebrating its 10th anniversary with a lively gathering of alumni, faculty, instructors, staff and current students at the end of September.

The event brought together members of the TRP community from across the past decade - reconnecting old friends and sparking new collaborations over shared stories, raffles, prizes and a round of TRP networking bingo.

In her remarks, Program Director Dr. Edyta Marcon reflected on the strength of the TRP community and its shared commitment to transforming healthcare. “The TRP has always been more than a program: it’s a movement for change in healthcare. Our strength lies in the people who make it possible. We can only create lasting impact together.”

Dr. Joseph Ferenbok, founding director of the program, shared reflections on how TRP began as an experiment in bridging science and real-world application and emphasized the collaborative foundation that continues to define TRP today. “Together we are stronger, and together we can achieve more.”

Dr. Rita Kandel, Chair of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, highlighted the accomplishments of TRP alumni and the program’s growing impact across healthcare systems.

Among the guests were alumni Gemma Kabeya and Gabrielle Retta (class of ’22) who enjoyed seeing themselves on some of the TRP promotional materials (pictured).

As the evening closed, it was clear that the same spirit that launched TRP ten years ago continues to thrive - one built on connection, curiosity and collective purpose.

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate!
