Balance your career and education with the TRP
Why choose the Masters in Health Sciences in Translational Research?
The TRP Master's Program is designed for busy professionals who are eager to advance their careers without putting their current jobs on hold. This unique program offers a flexible schedule that allows you to balance work, study, and personal commitments effectively.
Program structure
Year 1: Classroom learning
Classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays: Our structured schedule ensures that you can continue working while attending classes twice a week. This allows you to apply what you learn directly to your job, enhancing both your academic and professional growth.
What you learn in class is practical and instantly applicable. Use the insights and skills gained from your classes to improve your work performance. This not only reinforces your learning but also demonstrates the immediate value of the program to your employer. Find out more in Why join?
We recommend you discuss with your employer some protected time so you have the time and space to learn. See more in For employers: why your employee should join the TRP.
Discuss your educational goals with your employer: many organizations offer support for continuing education, such as flexible work hours or tuition reimbursement.
Year 2: Self-directed research
Work-related research project: In your second year, you'll focus on a self-directed Capstone research project that can, and should be, directly related to your current role in healthcare. This project allows you to delve deep into a topic of interest, contributing valuable insights to your field.
Choose a research topic that aligns with your job responsibilities. This integration ensures that your academic work is relevant and beneficial to your career whilst enabling you to innovate in your workplace, put your knowledge and skills into practice, and deliver benefits to patients.
Minimal class time: With very little class time required in the second year, you can dedicate more hours to your research and professional responsibilities.

Mikhail Lobo - current student
"As many of us in the TRP are balancing work and studies, the instructors are very understanding of competing deadlines as long as you can justify your needs, which has been really helpful in managing assignments.
In second year, it’s a lot of self-management and managing group time with everyone’s schedules has made us all very efficient in our time management. We update each other regularly rather than working long hours with long meetings so we can get the most out of our time together. Blocking time for myself to do things that are important to me like working out, eating or resting has been essential to staying on top of things."
