Alexa Lanese
Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator
Registered Nurse in Paediatric Cardiac Critical Care and Neonatal Intensive Care

Brief Bio

Alexa is a short person with big ideas, trying to make the world a better place through compassionate healthcare and by sharing the joy of homemade food passed down from her grandmothers. As a graduate of Canada's most research-intensive institutions, she has learned to organize clinical trials, quality improvement initiatives and educational outreach for health care groups committed to developing innovative solutions for hospitalized children and their families. Her clinical expertise lies in caring for children with life-threatening illnesses in the urban tertiary setting and providing evidence based knowledge for clinical decision-making in Neonatology, Paediatric Critical Care and Paediatric Cardiology subspecialties. Proud moments include working with Dr. Bonnie Stevens, collaborating on the first ever cross-disciplinary working groups dedicated to paediatric delirium, and contributing to first editions of international guidelines for nurses in paediatric cardiac critical care. In her spare time Alexa volunteers with the Young Professionals Committee (YPC) at Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto to help families of seriously ill children stay together at a time when they need each other the most. To date, YPC's efforts have raised more than $130,000 for the house in 3 years.
