It is intended to showcase multiple perspectives and create a forum for a constructive, respectful discussion.

Elinor Caplan, former Minister of Health for Ontario.
Elinor Caplan PC, is a businesswoman and former politician in Ontario, Canada. She served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1985 to 1997, and was a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons of Canada from 1997 to 2004. A Liberal, she served as a cabinet minister in the provincial government of David Peterson and the federal government of Jean Chrétien.
Mark Smithyes, MBA, Janus Life Sciences Consulting
With over 30+ year career in Life Sciences, Mark has had a wide range of experiences. He held various senior leadership positions in pharmaceutical and medical device companies, founded a life sciences start up venture, and lectures at the University of Toronto. In 2017, he founded Janus Life Sciences Consulting where he serves as a managing director. Mark has ample experience with bureaucracy and administration in healthcare. He will discuss the effect of bureaucracy on patient care and healthcare innovation.
