LMP2391H: Special Topics – Speaking with Confidence

Students will focus exclusively on developing delivery, presence, and performance skills. Each week combines short lectures, demonstrations, and structured speaking practice. By the end of the module, students will aim to deliver polished, confident and impactful presentations.  

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the module, students will be able to: 

  • Deliver confident, structured oral presentations to diverse audiences. 

  • Apply body language, vocal control, and presence techniques to enhance delivery. 

  • Use the basic elements of storytelling to make complex ideas engaging and persuasive. 

  • Manage nerves and project confidence in high-stakes speaking situations ranging from one-on-one conversations with job interviews or KOLs to auditorium-sized presentations. 

  • Engage in the incorporation of self-reflected and peer-driven feedback into the iterative improvement of public speaking skills. 

Enrollment

  • Students are required to complete eight modules (0.25FCE each) spread out within 2 years of study. 
  • Students may enroll in modular courses using ACORN.  
  • The modular schedule will be emailed to students prior to the start of each semester. 
  • Modules offered outside of the program are also permitted such as ones offered by the Institute of Medical Science (IMS).
