The Translational Research Program Committee (“Committee”) is responsible for advising on matters associated with the TRP (excluding academic procedure and policy) that help the program fulfill its core Vision and Mission.

Mandate

To provide guidance and recommendations to the Translational Research Program (“TRP”) Director and Administrative Staff to:

  • support a positive student experience
  • guide the program coordination, approach, and courses
  • support student and alumni engagement
  • provide direction on new TRP initiatives, branding and recruitment
  • Promote an inclusive environment; maintain a culture of respect, civility, professionalism, and social responsibility.

Membership

The Committee Shall be chaired by the Program Director and will consist of:

  1. Program Officer or designate,
  2. Faculty representative,
  3. First year student representative,
  4. Second year student representative, and
  5. Other program or community stakeholders are deemed necessary.

Appointments will be for a period of two years for student representatives and for a period of two years for faculty representatives–with the option for reappointment.  Appointments will be based on an expression of interest and/or the recommendations of TRP stakeholders.

Additional Committee members may be appointed at the discretion of the Director and with the recommendation of the Committee. The Committee is not a legal entity and will not have legal or contractual responsibility for the Translational Research Program and the information associated with it.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities of the Committee include (but are not limited to):

  • Advising on program opportunities
  • Provide feedback from the student body,
  • Building awareness and community; and
  • Advising on policies or coordination associated with program delivery.

Recommendations and Decision-making

Recommendations will be made by consensus.

  • It is desirable that recommendations are acceptable to all Committee members; therefore, the process should be continued until a consensus is achieved.
  • If a consensus in the Committee cannot be reached on an issue that requires action by the program, the Director will be advised.
