Learning Outcomes: At the end of this module students will be able to: demonstrate an understanding of key topics in health innovation, apply the Translational Framework for collaborative rapid innovation,  critically analyze a problem, and demonstrate a conceptual intervention



The Toronto Translational Framework provides an overview of the journey from ideation to implementation of innovations–from concept generation to market diffusion.  This module blends a rapid innovation challenge with learning key definitions, regulations and jurisdictional topics along commercialization pathways. The instructional content provides a high-level overview of innovation pathways for devices, services, diagnostics and therapeutics primarily in Canada, US and EU, with active ideation and creative problem solving. Offered: Winter 2021; Tues 3 – 5 pm; Feb 23 – Apr 6

Teaching Team:


A 25-year veteran of life science start-ups, currently as CEO & President of Insight Medbotics Inc. Formerly as co-founder & CEO of an award-winning Prostate Cancer MedDev. company established in Toronto, Profound Medical Inc. (NASDAQ:PROF). Paul has recently migrated into a blend of running companies in the day, and in the evenings and weekends lecturing on the topics of strategic innovation, venture capital finance, and marketing consulting to Federal and Provincial bodies; whilst continuing his advisory and investment activities on multiple boards.
