Abigail Grace Mathews
BSc
I'm a Queen’s University grad with a background in Biology and tick-borne diseases.
My time with the Colautti Lab helped me discover my passion for the ecological and epidemiological implications of vector-borne illnesses, specifically Lyme disease. It also sparked my interest in patient care and the clinical world.
This past year I had the opportunity to work as a clinical research coordinator at the Johns Hopkins Medical School, Lyme Disease Research Center where I ran a clinical trial and multiple longitudinal research studies. This opportunity developed my care for patients and ensuring they feel validated when experiencing chronic symptoms. In the world of tick-borne diseases, education is rooted in prevention which I intend to explore further.
Aside from my studies, I work at the Innovation Hub at U of T as a Data Archivist.
In my personal time I love reading, yoga and going for a great meal with my friends. I also love to travel, my next destination is Vietnam and Thailand!
Joining the Translational Research Program is the perfect next step for me in my professional career as I navigate how I want to apply my communication skills and love for research in my community. I love connecting with people and understanding how we
can innovate the healthcare system.
