The TRP Service Club partnered with the Anti-Racism Committee (ARC) to coordinate a food drive for the Daily Bread Food Bank.
In December 2022, the TRP community gathered to reflect on the year, revel in successes, and celebrate the holidays. As we enjoyed the sense of community and support that we offered one another, it was not lost on us the need to extend the same kind of support to other communities. So, the TRP Service Club partnered with the Anti-Racism Committee (ARC) to coordinate a food drive for the Daily Bread Food Bank. This is a Toronto-based charity whose mission is to eliminate food poverty. They believe that access to food is a human right, not a privilege, and are advocating for solutions that end food poverty in Canada.
The TRP community managed to collect over 120 items for donation, coming in at 20kg and 27L of food. We were excited about this opportunity to give back and were met with endless gratitude as we dropped off the donations at our local fire hall. While the Daily Bread Food Bank has its warehouse in Etobicoke, they have several community partners that make donating easy and accessible. If you are donating non-perishable food items, they can be dropped off at participating grocery stores or any Toronto Fire Hall. There are many ways to collaborate with Daily Bread Food Bank; you can donate food, host a donation box, fundraiser, or event, or make monetary donations.
Over the next few months, they are looking forward to other initiatives with Epilepsy South Central Ontario, Red Dot Project, an organization trying to end period poverty in Toronto, and participating in the Sporting Life 10k to support Campfire Circle!
