Supporting People Living with Developmental Disabilities at Reena Fundraiser

After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the 10th Annual Striking for Reena bowling event returned in person to Splitsville Richmond Hill, on June 12, 2022. Five TRP students polished their bowling skills and spared no time volunteering at Reena Foundation’s signature event.

The in-person crowd of 100 was joined virtually by another 400 guests all of whom managed to raise a striking $258,908 for the Reena Foundation.

That brings the 10-year total of funds raised to $2,033,871. The $ 2 million has gone and goes towards so many Reena initiatives, including housing, employment programs, summer and winter camps, sports teams, and vans to transport individuals supported by Reena.

As TRP students, we first interacted and partnered with Reena during a class project to help the organization tackle long-standing issues like institutionalization, alternate care housing, day programs, and support programs for caregivers.

Motivated by the impact of our work, we wanted to support Reena past the duration of our project. One such opportunity was helping out with their annual bowling event. We helped set up & clean up, served food, assisted guests, sold flower baskets, and most importantly, cheered on all the bowlers!

What an amazing initiative to be a part of, thank you Reena for having us!
