Research Interests:

I am interested in navigation surgery in sarcoma patients, "Hip, and Knee revision surgeries". My research focuses on utilizing and developing the use of navigation technology in complex pelvic sarcoma surgery. To this end, I have worked with my colleagues on developing a novel technique to perform navigation surgeries by using 2D/3D image registration using flat panel detector fluoroscopy device. Recently, I have developed a specific interest in the intersection between business and scientific innovation.

Capstone Project:

Our team looked into the facilitators and barriers to accessing health care services for Refugee Claimants in Toronto.
Refugee Claimants are covered under the Interim Federal Health Plan (IFHP) which is a federally funded program. There has been found a significant knowledge gap amongst Refugee Claimants regarding their coverage and how to navigate the Ontario system.
We conducted a qualitative study, using semi-structured interviews to speak to the claimants directly and understand their problem space.
This led to the creation of a Knowledge translation tool, a 3 minute informational video that refugee claimants can view to understand IFHP better.
