Brief Bio:

Capstone Project:

Existing training of anaesthesia residents on the use of point of care ultrasound is insufficient. We lack effective tools to assess, provide feedback, and empower residents.

Traditional training relies on the theory that the more time trainees spend on an activity, the more they will develop and refine expertise. However, many trainees who complete their residency still feel inadequately prepared to begin independent practice. To better meet and respond to patient and societal needs, competency-based medical education (CBME) trains residents based on competency. Transition to a CBME system for point of care ultrasound would help residents become competent and confident in their skills and prepared for lifelong learning.
