Brief Bio:

ILONA has been working in User Experience for over 30 years, since before the field was called User Experience. She has consulted for corporations and startups, in different industries including healthcare, telecom, finance, technology, and transportation.

As an experienced and dedicated educator, she has been teaching User Experience Design since 2000 and has taught hundreds of students in academia (University of Toronto, OCAD University, and Media Lab at the Canadian Film Centre, U. of T.'s Summer Abroad in Berlin) and in industry (Human Factors International, Rogers, CIBC, Deutsche Bank, Scotiabank, Omers). Ilona holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, so she can translate users’ needs into developers language.

Through personal and professional experiences Ilona has encountered a multitude of challenges within the healthcare space. Her three grown children plus elderly parents constantly remind her about differences among users and their experiences. Ilona is looking forward to working with the TRP cohort on some of the many important and challenging healthcare topics.
