Brief Bio

Gemma holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours) in Medical Sciences with a Minor in French Studies from Brock University. Throughout her academic career, she has learnt to think differently and build a strong foundational knowledge in quality improvement, leadership and interprofessional teamwork. This was manifested in her work and research which was largely focused on implementing and sustaining patient-centred care initiatives in healthcare systems. Her current interests are driven by her passion for research topics that involve the betterment of healthcare for women, refugees/immigrants and the black community. Through the TRP, she is learning to advance human-centric problem-solving in medical and health science contexts. She aims to combine this learnt knowledge with her broad skill set covering important facets in the healthcare space to enact positive changes that improve medicine, health and care.
