MSC 4010 Core Modules in Translational Research – Professionalism

Sessional Lecturer Position Fall 2017 & Winter 2018 (September 2017 to December 30, 2017) 

The Translational Research Program in the Institute of Medical Science, Faculty of Medicine, is seeking one sessional module lecturer (1/4 FCE) for the 2017 Fall semester (September and October 2017) for an MSC 4010 module on Project Management.

Description: This module introduces professionalism into the experiential learning, reflection, and self-evaluation paradigms in healthcare.

This module will be presented in 4 sessions of 3 hours each. Students will be introduced to the basics of professionalism etiquette and its role in shaping leadership and team-based interactions in a healthcare context. In addressing reflection and self-evaluation, the module will probe students’ awareness of self as translational researchers in a global context and explore how their work and approach to a need may be applied in a different setting where the need may be greater (or different).

Description of Duties: Duties include the delivery of 4 sessions and any applicable online content in accordance with the course description; assignment of a pass/fail grade; and development of related online/e- learning materials.

Enrolment: The course has a projected estimated enrolment of 25

Number of Hours (estimate): 50 hours

Salary: The salary rate for a sessional lecturer (I,II,&III) is as the schedule outlined in the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Class Schedule: Tuesdays, 1:00pm – 4:00pm (Tentative dates: Sept 19, Oct 24, Feb 6, April 3)

Qualifications: Preferred consideration will be given to applicants with a background in health sciences, a focus in project management in healthcare, and a robust understanding of the experiential learning cycle and reflection methodology.
