TRP Coffeehouse 2023

A coffeehouse is typically defined as a café where coffee is served and informal entertainment is provided (thanks Google!) Well, TRP’s first annual Coffeehouse didn’t have any coffee (instead, it was hosted at 7pm), but it sure did have entertainment!

Janine broke out her violin and impressed us all with her ability to play songs impromptu as requested. Did you know that Janine’s undergraduate degree is in music?

Abitha, accompanied by Jamie on the piano and Hobin on the guitar, sang a beautiful rendition of “Ceilings” by Lizzy McAlpine.

Jessica went acoustic with her guitar and blew us away with the joy she brings to her songs.

Lisa sang beautifully and was accompanied by her son, Julian, on two different guitars. Special thanks to Julian for joining us- his electric guitar solos truly electrified the Grad House! Julian is in grade 9 and surely has a great musical career ahead of him!

A dynamic and musical mother-son duo

Sam even provided impromptu guitar accompaniment! There may have been a rogue rendition of “Bennie and The Jets” (Elton John) and “Love Story” (Taylor Swift) involved…

We made sure to get some class bonding in too; Shayna arranged a game of Kahoots and we learned lots of stories about people we thought we already knew well. Psss… did you know that Morgan was once in the same room as Tom Holland? Or that Ty has a secret talent of salsa dancing (really… who’s surprised though?)

Thanks to everyone who came, and most of all, thanks to our talented peers and friends for sharing their musical talents with us. We’re cheering you on to keep sharing the joy you bring to others through your music!

tl;dr: TRP students are creatively inclined and have the bravery to put themselves out there and share their talents!
